About Us

We are so blessed and fortunate to own our farms. Even though both properties were in dire need of some serious TLC when we bought them, we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find them. It took us several years of cleaning up, tearing down, updating and rebuilding, which included all the scrapes, scratches, bruises, bumps, sore backs and, of course, the financial surprises you can’t seem to avoid, to get them up to “presentable.” Once we finally got there, we decided the farms were just too wonderful not to share. So we gave it a lot of thought and decided to open our gates and extend our friendship and the hospitality of our beautiful piece of country living to folks traveling through. We also thought it might be fun and rewarding to add an occasional horse clinic to our agenda during the summer months. Sommers Gate Farms was born.

Our Horse Motel & Accomodations

Both of our farms are close to Interstate 70, not too far north of Exit 52. Travelers looking for a nice, quiet place to stay overnight where their horses and pets are right there on site with them will discover our facilities are ideal. For those who don’t have a trailer with living quarters or a camper, our fully renovated, comfy little farmhouse is just the ticket. Folks who have a trailer or camper can hook up at a 30 or 50 amp site at our picturesque campground.

The Farmhouse

The farmhouse has four bedrooms, a full bath, half bath, large country kitchen and living room with satellite television. The kitchen includes everything needed to eat in—refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, coffee pot and toaster. We provide towels, linens and coffee in the morning. There is a deck in front that offers a nice view. Deer, turkey and other wildlife frequently wander through. The large, fenced-in yard is ideal for canine guests. There’s a five-stall horse barn only a few feet from the farmhouse. The stalls are 12x12 with mats. For a horse that prefers a paddock, there are three large paddocks with shelters directly behind the house.

The Campground

The Campground has 30/50 amp hookups with access to water. The three-stall horse barn at the campground has 12x12 stalls with mats. For horses who seriously needs to stretch their legs, there’s a three-acre pasture with a shelter.
